Born and raised in Alabama’s Port City, Michael is proud to call Mobile home. Since he was a child, Michael walked around with a microphone in-hand entertaining family and friends. As a teenager, he explored the world of television, acting, script-writing, producing, directing, and movie-making, sparking his passion for television/entertainment.
Michael attended Spring Hill College his first two years of college then transferred to the University of South Alabama, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
While at South, Michael co-created and hosted USA Sports, in conjunction with the athletic department. Michael was also heard on Jaguar athletic radio as he announced play by play and color commentary for South Alabama’s Division 1 athletic programs, including Lady Jags basketball, Jaguar basketball and Jaguar softball. Michael served as the Public Address Announcer for South Alabama Football and the Jaguar Marching Band from 2009-2013.
In 2010, Michael interned with ‘BackStory’ on CNN International at CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. While at CNN, Michael was able to meet celebrities like Usher and Natasha Bedingfield and covered stories for CNN including the Deep Water Horizon Oil Spill in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Upon returning to Mobile in 2010, Michael became the UMinute host on NBC affiliate WPMI Local15 & its sister station WJTC UTV44. The weekly entertainment and sports commercials were sponsored by Pepsi and aired throughout the Mobile/Pensacola market.
In late 2011, Michael’s production business branched out, creating a local entertainment show called ‘The Blend,’ which aired on UTV44. Michael spear-headed the production as host, director, and executive producer. During that time, Michael won the Chris Myers Nissan Talent Search, where he served as spokesperson, driving a new Nissan model every month for a year.
Before moving to his new position at WALA FOX10, Michael moved from the UMinute to the morning show where he served the social media reporter weekday mornings on Local15 Today.
Since March 2013, Michael reports for WALA FOX10 News in the Mobile/Pensacola market. Michael has covered stories from historic rain and flooding in the Mobile area, undercover drug operations with the Mobile Police Department, to the Hangout Music Festival, Bayfest, and more.
Beginning in August 2014, Michael will serve in a new role at South Alabama as sideline reporter for South Alabama Jaguar Football, both at home and away games.
Michael is also a part-time videographer, web developer, and app developer. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, politics, aviation, movies, photography, videography, sports and Atlanta Braves baseball.
