MPD: 15 cell phones, 4 headphones stolen from Alma Bryant football players

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile Police Department is releasing new details about a locker room theft at Theodore High School.

MPD says personal items, belonging to Alma Bryan football players, were stolen from the locker room during the Theodore vs. Alma Bryant game Friday, August 29.

Investigators says 15 cell phones, four “Beats by Dre” headphones, one wallet with cash and credit cards inside, were all stolen from the locker room while players were on the field.

FOX10 News wanted to know how the school system secures football games. A school system spokesperson says it’s up to each principle to decide what is required and hire law enforcement. Resource officers are not assigned to games.

MPD said two officers were contracted to work Friday’s game and several Mobile County Sheriff deputies were also on duty.

Although there is often law enforcement on duty at football games, MPD recommends you keep a close eye on your stuff.

“You definitely want to secure all your stuff keep and it out of sight… possibly in the trunk. When you’re at school only pull your cell phone out for emergencies only because someone could see your cell phone– they could actually try to take it”

MPD says it is trying to track down the suspect and recover the stolen items. We’ll let you know if an arrest is made.
