Saban: “quarterback competition” at Bama

TUSCALOSSA, Ala. (WALA) – Nick Saban said Monday, there is a “quarterback competition” at Alabama.

“I still don’t hesitate to say there is a quarterback competition. And that in some way, we’ll probably try to play both quarterbacks in this game. I don’t know how. When I figure it out, I’m probably not going to tell you. So don’t ask,” said Saban to the media on Monday.

The competition is between Blake Sims and Mobile native and St. Paul’s grad Jake Coker.

Sims played nearly the entire game on Saturday, as Alabama defeated West Virginia 33-22. Coker played under the last two minutes.

Saban said overall, both sides of the ball must improve in order to win games with some dominating power…no matter the opponent.

“We’re not where we need to be. We’re not the team we can be. (butt with) Why does the external factor of who you’re playing have anything to do with how you play? (butt with) Is that your thinking on this? Cause  it’s not mine. Aight? So, if it’s our player’s thinking, I can tell you right now, I’m going to be pretty pissed about it,” said Saban.

The Tide takes on Florida Atlanta University on Saturday. Game time is set for 11 am.
