MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – John “Marc” Robertson is heading back to his home in Daphne Sunday with a big smile and the promise of a $40,000 Kia.

Robertson, who is a commercial diver, won the Kia Kickoff  field goal competition at the Alabama vs. West Virginia football game in Atlanta, Saturday.

“USA Coach Bedsole trained with me for five days, so I could win this competition while watching my favorite team play football,” Robertson tells Fox10News.  Robertson is a big ‘Bama fan.

The diver said twelve other competitors vied for the rights to the new car.

Robertson won by kicking the ball into the end zone from the 50-yard line at the end of the third quarter.

When asked if the two opposing coaches were watching, Robertson laughed.  “No, I’m too old to play football.”

Fox10News wants to thank Robertson for sharing his Facebook photo of he and his mother, who has passed away.  “That photo is a tribute to my Mom,” said Robertson.
