Santa Rosa County officials say a 56 year-old woman drowned while kayaking near the Navarre Causeway.

“Deputies from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Navarre Causeway in reference to a possible drowning at approximately 0730 hrs this morning,” said Deputy Richard Aloy, Public Information Officer with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. “With the assistance of Fire and EMS, the body of a white female was recovered from the water. The location was near the smaller of the two bridges on the causeway.”

Santa Rosa Investigators say the drowning victim has been identified as Joetta Goss from Louisiana.  Deputies say Goss was visiting the Gulf Coast with family vacationing in the Navarre Beach area.
