PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – Prichard City Officials said a nationwide Amber Alert for a 9 year-old male who was allegedly abducted from his mother at gunpoint has been located in the Eight Mile area.
Late Saturday evening, Fairfield Police and State Investigators issued the Amber Alert. The city of Fairfield is close to Birmingham.
But at 1:30 a.m., Alabama Public Safety officials announced the child was located and the alert was cancelled.
“At approximately 4:30 a.m., the Prichard Police Department located the alleged suspect, Tanya Felix, age 53,” said Melanie Baldwin, spokesperson for the City of Prichard. “The Department of Human Resources was notified and took the child for safekeeping.”
However, Baldwin said Felix was not arrested. “Upon the recommendation of the Fairfield Police Department, the suspect was not arrested due to the ongoing investigation.”
Baldwin added the Prichard Police Department is continuing to assist Fairfield Police with the investigation into the incident.
