GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) – Families are flocking to the beaches for yet another big holiday weekend. This summer may reach record breaking numbers of travelers in coastal Alabama.
The Magees came from Texas to enjoy Labor Day weekend. The whole family packed up their bags to see Ruth Schenaenberger and her husband in Gulf Shores.
“It’s absolutely wonderful having my family here. We moved here three years ago and I love it here, the worst thing is that my family is so far away.”
Rachel Magee says they’ve been talking about this weekend for months. She brought her daughter, Charlie to the beach for the first time.
“We love coming here, it’s so awesome, it’s so beautiful, the atmosphere is nice and I love that she is able to hang out and get to enjoy everything,”
The Magees are one of many families that are in South Alabama enjoying the sun, surf and sand.
David Dickerson and his wife say they will be enjoy the weekend with friends from out of town.
“We’ve got some friends coming from Mississippi. We’re going to spend some time on the beach and of course eating and drinking adult beverages and enjoying some sun,” he said.
