Teen living with FAS throws first pitch, raises money

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Grace Green stepped up to the pitcher’s mound to throw the first pitch of the Mobile BayBears game Sunday, August 24.

But Grace, who is living with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), wasn’t just at the game to be an all star. She was there to raise money for a service dog.

“The main thing is going to be for comfort. When Grace is out of control the dog can comfort her, the dog can actually lay on her and settle her down,” said Grace’s mother Sandra Green.

But the service dog isn’t cheap. It will cost $14,000 dollars and the family still has to raise $3,000.

If 550 people donate $20 dollars each, the family will reach their goal.

“Her “gotcha day” is coming up. That’s the day we adopted her so our goal is October 22 to be done with all of her donations,” Sandra said.
