MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WALA) – The number one ranked team in the 6A division of the State of Alabama took the field for the first time this football season at the Cramton Bowl Stadium in Montgomery.
The Spanish Fort Toros took on the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs.
This was the first counting game of the season for the Toros, and fans of the team said they were excited for the game to go down.
“It’s the first game of the season and we’re getting really pumped, we’ve been getting ready for months now,” said Toros cheerleader Jordan Riekhof.
Mark Freeman, head coach for the Spanish Fort Toros, told FOX10 this first game is important for the team.
“It’s important from a lot of different standpoints, because it’s a real game, so everything’s going to matter,” said Freeman. “We will see how our kids play under pressure. It’s a great game, because it’s not a region game and we’re playing a good football team, so we’ll have some stuff to go back and work on.”
Spanish Fort won the game with a score of 42-14.
