BREWTON, Ala. (WALA) – The former band director at T.R. Miller High School who is charged with a sex crime was in court Friday, August 22 for a bond hearing.
Jeffrey Gainous’ bond was set at $350,000 for one count of felony of school employee engaging in a sexual act. Officials said Gainous could face as many as 10 more charges.
Officials said Gainous had sexual contact with eight girls, ages 14 to 18.
Brewton Police told FOX10 that Gainous participated in bondage sexual activity with the victims, even tying them up. Prosecutor’s say several more charges are on the way.
Meantime, Brewton residents trying to wrap their heads around the allegations.
“We are waiting for the truth to come out,” said Teresa Dyal.
Some people are withholding judgement until the courts make a decision.
“I told my daughter judge ye, lest you be no judged. We are not going to judge until all the facts come are in and everything is said and done,” said Donna Joyner.
More details are expected to be released during a preliminary hearing September 11.
