BREWTON, Ala. (WALA) – The Brewton Police Department has confirmed the former band director of T.R. Miller High School is facing sex crimes against high school aged girls.
Police said Jeffrey Gainous had sexual contact with eight girls, ages 14 to 18. Police told FOX10 News some of the alleged victims were students at the school, while others were not, and that he engaged in sexual intercourse with only one of the victims.
Brewton Police told FOX10 that Gainous participated in bondage sexual activity with the victims, even tying them up.
All eight alleged victims, according to officials, were unaware with each other’s experiences with Gainous until recent weeks. Authorities said the alleged victims came forward Saturday, August 16, with statements against Gainous.
Brewton Police said Tuesday, August 19, they traveled to Georgia, where Gainous now lives, to arrest him on one felony of school employee engaging in a sexual act.
Police also told FOX10 that Gainous confessed to having sex with one of the victims, and they are looking to press more charges against him in the case.
FOX10 News reached out to Brewton City Schools for a comment about the investigation, but we did not hear back from them.
