Want to be a Girl Scout?

It’s Girl Scout recruitment time! If your daughter, or a young lady you know has mentioned she wants to be a Girl Scout, now’s the time to join! Allison Marlow, Membership Field Executive of Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama, and Girl Scout Cadette Gabriella Taylor talked with Cherish Lombard about the recruitment process on Studio 10.

Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama is a United Way Partner Agency and serves more than 6,000 girls, ages 5-17 and 2,700 volunteers across 30 counties.  Programs focused on financial literacy, science, technology, engineering and math, and leadership development help girls contribute to their families, communities and the nation’s workforce and leadership today and in the future. Diversity is a core value of Girl Scouts, and in addition to ongoing troops, we are committed to serving girls who face overwhelming obstacles through our outreach programs.

Every day some 15 million children are without supervision at home or on the street after school. Children who are unsupervised after school are not only in danger of becoming victims of crimes or accidents, but are also at risk for falling behind academically, socially, and emotionally. Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama needs you to help end this cycle. Adults, 18 years of age and up, are encouraged to become a Girl Scout volunteer today.

Every year, there are hundreds of girls who won’t be able to benefit from various activities that strengthen their core values and self-esteem due to the lack of adult volunteers. Girl Scout volunteers are critical to providing a safe and supportive environment, in which girls can be themselves, have fun, make new friends, and experience new things. GSSA offers flexible volunteer opportunities that will fit around your schedule and interests.
