DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – A pilot project turning waste water into fuel is finding success on Mobile Bay.
Algae Systems is using – you guessed it – algae to turn waste water into bio-fuel near Bay Front Park in Daphne.
Waste water and algae are mixed in plastic booms that extend out into the bay. Sunlight and wave action agitate the mix and initiate the chemical process.
When all is said and done, the end product is a bio-crude that can be made into fuel and clean water.
FOX10 News reporter Matt Barrentine will be out at the experimental plant gathering more info on how the process works and what it could bring to the City of Daphne on FOX10 News at 5 p.m.
