PERDIDO KEY, Fla. (WALA) – Saturday, August 16, officials said more than 30,000 people gathered at the state line of Florida and Alabama to see country icon Kenny Chesney perform a free concert at the famous Flora-Bama bar.
Hundreds of boats lined the coastline in the Gulf of Mexico to sit in on the concert, and thousands of people claimed their spot in front of the main stage.
“There’s a lot of people out here, it’s just been wild, it’s been great,” said concert-goer Johnny Pizzo.
Although there was hefty traffic in the days leading up to the concert, concert-goers told FOX10 News the traffic on Saturday wasn’t too bad.
“We got here super fast,” said concert-goer Laura Curtis. “The traffic was pretty good.”
Mayor Tony Kennon with the City of Orange Beach told FOX10 the city has done everything in their power to make the concert run smoothly.
“So far, our folks have done and unbelievable job of moving traffic in the city,” said Kennon. “I think it’s moving very well, and it’s manageable.”
