People calling Mobile County D.A. asking, “How do I get off the list?”

DA began listing those with active warrants on website

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office is busy taking calls from people asking, “How can I get off the list?”

As we recently reported, the D.A.’s office published the names of people who owe money and have warrants out for their arrest all in hopes that they would pay up.The list contains the names of people with overdue unpaid traffic ticket, court costs or fines in Mobile County.

Chris McNealy doesn’t have any worries, and he thinks the list is a good idea.

“Because you need to know if you’re gonna go to jail if you get pulled over for a traffic ticket,” said McNealy.

Word of mouth has been working overtime. Assistant District Attorney Deborah Tillman said a lot of people are hearing their names are on the list from friends and family, and they want to handle the issue ASAP.

“We are not out to embarrass anyone at all. We are just simply trying to make sure that the money that the court ordered is collected,” said Tillman.

People have to pay fees in full before names are taken off the list. Click here to search for names.
