PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – People who live in the Mobile area aren’t the only ones getting wristbands to see Kenny Chesney at the Flora-Bama this weekend.
Peter Shepitka and three other Kenny Chesney fans had just driven in from Charleston, South Carolina to wait for the “will call” section to open.
Shepitka said, “We drove all night, got down here about 3:30, and haven’t been to bed yet, waiting to get our wristbands and party all day tomorrow with Kenny.”
Kari Martin from Charleston said, “We all rode down together and kept each other awake for the ride, because it was a long 10 hour drive.”
LINE FORMED QUICKLY
Fast forward to 9:00 a.m. Friday, and there were a couple of hundred people waiting in line.
Some of them had a long ride, too. One person said she came from Battle Creek, Michigan and drove down 16 hours straight.
Two friends came down from Dayton, Ohio and east Tennessee.
TAKING ONE CAR
Our carpooling award goes to Yvonne Eckfeld and her friends from St. Petersburg, Florida. There were six people in one car.
Eckfeld said, “We’re all a little stiff.”
What’s a little crick in the neck, though, when you’re lucky enough to get wristbands to see your favorite singer?
Eckfeld said, “I even gave away Brad Paisley tickets for tonight in Tampa to come see Kenny.”
NOT STAYING LONG
However, as our two friends from Ohio and Tennessee will tell you, nothing lasts forever.
When asked if they were going to stay a while, Jennifer Mattingly of Dayton said they were both driving back Sunday morning because, “I teach at a school, so I have to be at my school Monday morning.”
WRISTBAND PICKUP FOR SATURDAY
People who still need to pick up tickets can do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 16 at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club.
