BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is in Alabama supporting the re-election campaign of fellow Republican Gov. Robert Bentley.

Christie and Bentley toured a laboratory at Southern Research Institute in Birmingham on Wednesday before a pair of private fundraisers at a club overlooking the city.

One event is to raise money for the Republican Governor’s Association, which Christie chairs. The other is for the Bentley campaign.

Christie wouldn’t disclose the fundraising goal for the day, and neither would the Bentley campaign.

Christie says he and Bentley have developed a “great relationship” over the last four years, and he calls Bentley “someone who gets things done.”

Christie often is mentioned as a potential GOP candidate for the White House, and Bentley says he believes Christie would be “a great president.”
