Friend of motorcycle crash victim speaks to FOX10

PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) –  A friend of man who was killed Tuesday evening, August12, in a motorcycle crash near the interchange of I-65 and I-165 said he is still in shock and disbelief over the tragic death of his friend.

Police say Tuesday evening, a man and woman were riding a motorcycle when they slammed into a guardrail on an interstate overpass and were thrown onto the interstate below. Police said speed and weather may have been a factor.

“It seems like speed may have been a factor, also weather might’ve played into it too,” said Prichard Police Chief Michael Rowland. “The highway (was) kind of wet and slippery.

Police are not releasing the names of the two victims at this time. Although friends and family members have confirmed the names of the victims to FOX10, we are choosing not to publicly identify the victims until the family is ready.

FOX10 did, however, speak with a friend of the male victim, who said he was an incredible friend, father, and husband.

“(The victim) was a dedicated individual to whatever he was doing,” said Steve Wilson, a long-time friend of the male victim. “He was dedicated to his family, he was dedicated to his job, he was dedicated to his pets, and just across the board we’re devastated about the loss.”
