Applications accepted for temporary employment of peanut harvest


MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries are accepting applications for temporary employment for the 2014 peanut harvest.

They’ll also be conducting interviews between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

This work consists of sampling, grading, assisting in grading of peanuts during harvest season as they arrive at buying points throughout south Alabama.

The available positions are for a produce inspector with a pay of $11.54 an hour, and a laborer-sampler with a pay of $9.70 an hour. A GED or high school diploma and a valid drivers license are required for the produce inspector position.

All applicants that are hired will be E‐Verified. Must be available to work up to 15 hours per day, seven days a week. Overtime paid after 40 hours per week. Work will begin around the middle of September and will last for one to two months.
