MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Some new help is coming for homeless veterans in Mobile and Baldwin Counties, and other homeless people in the area.

“Housing First,” a non-profit agency, has launched what it’s called the Community Connections Network, or CCN, to help the homeless, or those who are at risk to be homeless.

The network is a database that helps the homeless save time in finding agencies that can help them.

Michelle Krulewicz-Dees with Housing First said, “They can go to one place, and they can say,’Hey, Michelle, we know that you are going to be eligible for this project, and we know that they have a bed or we know that they have a unit open for you. They’re expecting you, as a matter of fact, so head on over there right now.’”

If you want to contact the network, you can log on to outreach@hfal.org.

In addition, Housing First in Mobile and Baldwin counties has received $1.3 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs for its programs to help the homeless people and veterans.
