South Alabama practicing in pads

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The South Alabama Jaguars are in full swing of fall camp.

Sunday was the first day for the Jags in full pads. It was the first daytime practice for the team after five night practices. Head Coach Joey Jones said the team does that so they can evaluate in the morning and execute at night. He said Sunday’s practice was one of obvious chemistry between the players.

“I thought the defense really picked it up today. Yesterday, I think the offense really ran the ball on them pretty good. They didn’t like that. They came out and responded today and it was great. We have a great chemistry on this team. The kids like each other, love each other, they care about each other. And they know how to practice. We had a great tempo at practice. Where it was physical but wasn’t overly physical. So, I like what we’re doing,” said Jones.

The Jags open the season on the road at Kent State in Kent, Ohio on September 6.
