Mobile home drive by shooting causes property damage

MOBILE, Ala. – An early morning drive by shooting has left residents in one mobile home park on edge.

It happened around 4:30am in the 1400 block of Cody Road. Residents said it was a miracle no one was hurt.

One man who didn’t talk to us on camera showed Fox Ten several bullet holes in his home in the Camelia Trace Mobile Home Park. Bullets went through two of his windows.

Neighbors said four other houses in the complex were also hit numerous times.

“This is what’s left after the police have already been here. And we were just walking through. I’m sure there’s more still down on the ground,” Frederick Ferber said.

Ferber woke up to gunfire Saturday morning. He said there were at least two weapons, and 9 millimeter, and a 40 millimeter. He doesn’t know if the homes were actually being targeted, but he says anyone could have been hit.

“That’s my biggest concern, because we have a lot families. It’s a good neighborhood. We have good neighbors that watch out for each other so the sad thing is somebodies coming in here and starting to terrorize us,” he said.

“They need to be caught,” Lisa Lingg said.

At first Lingg didn’t realize what was going on outside.

“It sounded like someone was banging on the side of my trailer, and I came outside, and there was a black car and a maroon car, I couldn’t tell you the make and model, but they were going by and they were shooting,” Lingg said.

Neighbors are hoping the shooters are caught before they come back. In the meantime, they also want more security in the Mobile Home Park.

“I want to see the police step up and come in and do more patrolling and the park management come in and put up security camera’s so we’d feel a little bit more comfortable and more safe,” Ferber said.
