BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – The Interstate 10 interchange to the Baldwin Beach express is set to open on Friday, August 15, according to ALDOT’s official Twitter feed.
The interchange’s opening follows the earlier opening of a 7-mile stretch of the road between Highway 90 and County Road 32 opening in June. This interchange between Loxley and Wilcox Road will mark the completion of the project.

The Baldwin Beach Express is supposed to serve multiple purposes. First, to alleviate heavy traffic on Highway 59 especially during the busy tourist season. It will also serve as an extra evacuation route in the event of a hurricane. Those who live along the expressway are just as excited to use it in their every-day travels.
There’s only one stop light between Interstate 10 and Foley on the expressway, so it’s a change to the route that formerly took drivers along Highway 59.
