DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) – Daphne Fire Station Number 3 has been closed for a few months because of environmental reasons and a need for other improvements. The city is working with the fire department to get the station up and running again.
In the meantime, Station No. 3 firefighters are working out of the main location on Main Street. Mayor Dane Haygood says the temporary fix should not affect efficiency of the fire department. The main station is about five miles from Station Number Three.
It could be months before the closed down facility is reopened. Mayor Haygood says he has been meeting with the architect to make plans for not only repairs, but also for upgrades. He says it’s too soon to know, but he estimates the price tag of the facility will be about $220,000.
They hope to have plans by September and be finished in about four months.
