According to authorities, on August, 6, 2014 at approximately 8:25 a.m. the Biloxi Police Department arrested Austin Drake Sluter, 26,  and charged him with Felony Child Abuse.

Authorities said, the arrest stems from a report of a medical emergency that occurred on 19 July 2014 at a residence on Camp Wilkes Rd. where a four-year-old child was suffering from seizures.  The child was initially treated locally and it was determined that recent head trauma had caused bruising and the seizures.

The child was then transported to USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital in Mobile, AL and treated in ICU.  After recovering from these injuries, the child was released to the custody of social services pending action by Harrison County Youth Court.  Further investigation and interviews with witnesses revealed that the child had been struck in the head several times by Sluter at the residence just prior to the seizures.

according to authorities, Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain issued an arrest warrant charging Austin Drake Sluter with felony child abuse. Judge Fountain set bond at $100,000.
