Students get free haircuts, school supplies at Prichard event

PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – Hundreds of students came out Prichard Stadium today for the annual “operate educate”  back-to-school and health kick off.

Attendees scooped up free school supplies, uniforms, backpacks and even a computer. Free health screenings and haircuts, as well as some immunizations were also offered.

“It is an honor to us to be able to serve our community, to help our kids to get a fresh start in school and to be ahead of the curve, and hopefully have a successful school year for 2014, 2015,” Vincent Robinson with Project 4ward, the group that sponsored the event, said.

Project 4ward said their goal was 5,000 students and they say they almost reached that goal.
