Eastbound I-10 Bayway ramp to be closed 6-8 weeks

These are the remains of a truck that burned in an overnight fire on an on ramp to I-10 Bayway from the Causeway. The ramp will remain closed until further notice, ALDOT told FOX10.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Alabama Department of Transportation has set up temporary traffic control to make the I-10 eastbound on-ramp on the east side of Bankhead Tunnel accessible to traffic traveling alt-90 from the Cochrane Bridge.

A vehicle fire early Thursday morning damaged the I-10 on-ramp used by eastbound 90/98 traffic near I-10 at exit 30. ALDOT will have to keep the ramp closed for at least 6-8 weeks to develop and carry out plans for repair.

The next eastbound I-10 access point is in Daphne.

The normal traffic pattern for the on-ramp on the east side of Bankhead tunnel facilitates only Bankhead Tunnel and Dunlap Drive traffic. Under the temporary traffic control these drivers will have to yield to eastbound alt-90 traffic accessing the I-10 on-ramp.
