Sources: Hallie Dixon, Baldwin County DA, under investigation

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – According to several high-ranking sources in Baldwin County, a complaint has been filed against Baldwin County District Attorney Hallie Dixon.

The sources say the complaint was filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, better known as the EEOC.

FOX10 News has been told she is on an extended two week absence, on top of a two week vacation. She’s expected to be back in the office on Monday, August 11.

Sources say she has been made aware that a complaint has been filed against her.

FOX10 News reached out to the EEOC for a comment. The federal agency sent us an email that reads in part:

“Under the laws we enforce, all charges of discrimination filed with us and their administrative processing must be kept strictly confidential by law. We can neither confirm nor deny that any complaint was filed or give an update on any investigation.”

Dixon took office in 2011. She actually started working for the DA’s office in 2006.

FOX10’s Lenise Ligon talked with Baldwin County Commissioner Tucker Dorsey on the phone. He told her Dixon did not attend the budget hearing for the district attorney’s office that was recently held by the county commission.

She asked Dorsey what he knew about the complaint and who would pay for any possible investigation that might follow.

“What we’re hearing is that there may be an EEOC investigation going on and that would not be funded by the County Commission, funded through that department specifically. I don’t know that there would not be an investigation by the County Commission, she does not answer to our body. The D.A.’s office is fairly autonomous, they report to the voters. There wouldn’t be an internal investigation. It would be either from the state or the EEOC,” Dorsey said.

FOX10 News has reached out to Dixon for comment but she is on vacation. We called her cell phone but were unable to leave a message. Her automated email response says she’s unable to receive emails.

We will stay on top of this story and will bring any updates here to Fox10tv.com.
