MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Most kids are hoping to squeeze the last bit of summer in before they head back into the classroom, but a special group can’t wait to go back. In fact, they are already on campus, making a lot of noise.
It is the Mobile County Public School System’s Show Choir. A group of hardworking students, spending the day, practicing for hours.
“I love doing this, I could do it every day,” said Daleigh Greer.
Greer, who is going to be a senior this year, said the hours fly by.
“It’s indescribable, we have so much fun getting to know everybody and I love dancing and singing so it’s like home to me.”
The students, all from different schools, come together to create harmony. Organizers said that teaches a valuable life lesson.
“It helps the kids open up and they get to see people outside of their schools, make and build bonds and connections at other schools,” said Assistant Choreographer Christin Prince.
This year’s performance is “Scenes From Broadway” and you can bet these show-stoppers are ready to start the show. Along with just having a lot of fun, many of these students are hoping to get a scholarship after they graduate.
“I want one, I’m hoping so,” said Greer.
Greer said the show is entertaining and full of crowd involvement. She said it’s just a bunch of kids, doing what they love.
“Scenes From Broadway-From Show Starters To Show Stoppers,” opens at the Baker High School auditorium on Friday, August 8. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.
