HOUMA, La. (AP) — A 54-year-old Dulac (DOO-lak) woman says her pit bull savaged her for 45 minutes, and had previously attacked other family members, including children.
Kathleen Shaffer tells The Courier (http://bit.ly/1o0iOvM) that her doctor told her he could not even count the bites from the attack about 5 a.m. Sunday. She was interviewed at Terrebonne General Medical Center, where she’s being treated for bites to her left arm, legs, chest and throat.
Shaffer says she and her husband did not report the earlier attacks by the 70-pound dog named Bubba.
She says she was afraid of the dog, but her husband wanted to keep it.
Manager Valerie Robinson says the dog is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter and will be euthanized after a 10-day wait to check for rabies.
