Members of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society want you to join their fight to find a cure for cancer by participating in the Light The Night Walk! You can register for the walk and learn more about it Thursday, July 31 during a luncheon at Hank Aaron Stadium to “Strike Out Cancer.” From 11:30 – 1:00pm, you can register, receive tips about fundraising and pick up fundraising materials. It’s free to attend, giveaways will be provided and children are welcome. Fourteen year old Frances Grace Hirs from Daphne, a two time survivor who’s currently battling leukemia, will be there with her family to share her story.
The Light The Night Walk, LLS’s annual fundraising walk held in communities throughout the country, features teams of co-workers, families and friends walking together in twilight holding illuminated balloons. White balloons are displayed for survivors, red for supporters and gold to remember those who have lost their battle. The Walk, which commemorates lives touched by blood cancers, is a celebration, with music, refreshments and family activities. It’s your opportunity to pay tribute to lives touched by blood cancer.
This year, the Mobile walk will be Thursday, October 16 at 5:30pm, in Bienville Square. If you would like to learn more about forming a team, please call the Gulf Coast Chapter at (251) 472-8123 or visit www.lightthenight.org/al.
