FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – City officials are back to the drawing board to figure out a way to make the Manley Road soccer complex more affordable.
At the pre-bid meeting only one contractor offered a bid at $5.1 million. The city council set a $2 million dollar limit on the project.
The complex is supposed to be built on the corner of Manley Road and County Road 13. The city already owns this land, but they can’t start construction until they can accept an affordable bid.
Mayor Kant says the city council will have to rethink how they will make the new complex happen.
Mayor Kant says options will be discussed at the Fairhope city council meeting next Monday.
