GULFPORT, Miss. (WALA) – Funeral arrangements have been announced for a five-year-old Mississippi girl who was murdered.
Officials said Janaya Thompson went missing from in front of her apartment complex Wednesday, July 16. Twelve hours later, police found her body in an abandoned mobile home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow. She will be laid to rest at Pine Ridge Gardens Cemetery.
The cost of her service was taken care of by Gulfport residents and businesses.
Gulfport police have named two men as persons of interest in the case. They said Alberto Garcia and Julian Gray lived together in the same apartment complex as Janaya.
They’re being held on charges in separate incidents.
Officials said Garcia was arrested for burglary at the mobile home where Janaya’s body was found.
They said Gray is a suspect in a sexual battery and rape case from April 2014.
