Fairhope Dog fight ends in 911 call

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – The Fairhope Police Department says two dogs broke out in a fight on Sunday, July 20, 2014 and one of them bit its owner’s hand.

At around noon, police responded to a 911 call in the 18000 block of Quail Creek Drive in Fairhope.  They say a woman called them around noon because her doberman and her brother’s pit bull wouldn’t stop fighting.  The doberman owner says she had been watching her brother’s pit bull for a few days and the two dogs normally got along fine.

She says she was returning home with groceries when the dogs started fighting. She tried to stop the dogs and that’s when her doberman bit her hand. Police officers arrived shortly after and had to taze one of the animals to stop the fight. Both dogs ran off into the neighborhood causing police to send out a mass message warning.

The dog owners told us that the animal control officer released the pit bull to the family.  They say the pit bull injured the doberman, but it’s expected to be released from the vet soon.
