Candlelight vigil held for murder victim

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – Friday evening, July 11, as the sun set, friends and family members of Tylandria Rivers gathered for a candlelight vigil in her memory. The 21-year-old mother of a two-month-old daughter was found shot to death in her Jarrett Road home Sunday, July 6 in Prichard.

Rivers’ funeral is being held in Chunchula. Friday night’s candlelight vigil was held at Highpoint Park in Prichard.

Prichard investigators say Rivers was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators say Rivers was murdered by her boyfriend, 22-year-old Richardson Kennedy.

Police say Kennedy tried to make the crime scene look like a home invasion. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder.

Prichard Police investigators say the shooting stemmed from an argument over prescription medication Rivers had in her possession.
