JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WALA) A 35-year-old Moss Point man was arrested at a local shipyard after DNA testing linked him to a 2001 homicide in Phoenix, Jackson County Sheriff’s Investigators said.
According to investigators, Michael Cornell Moye has family in Phoenix and was thought to be in the area during the October 2001 Phoenix convenience store shooting. However, he was questioned by Moss Point PD after incident happened, but he denied any involvement.
Investigators said they took samples of Moye’s DNA in 2013 and Phoenix investigators have linked his DNA to the shooting.
Moye is being held at the Jackson County Adult Dention Center for Phoenix Police.
