MOBILE, Ala. – Family members of the victim left the courtroom without commenting Wednesday after Judge Jay York denied bond for murder suspect, Richardson Kennedy.
Kennedy pleaded not guilty to the charge. His attorney Larry Moorer told reporters after the hearing his client is not a violent man.
Kennedy was arrested Sunday after Prichard police said he shot his girlfriend, 21-year-old Tylandria Rivers in the head and tried to make the crime scene look like a home invasion.
Prosecutors asked that bond be denied, because Kennedy was on probation for a marijuana conviction at the time of the murder.
Assistant District Attorney, Jennifer Wright said Kennedy is the son of former Mobile County Domestic Court Judge Cain Kennedy.
Judge York set the case for a Preliminary Hearing on July 30.
