PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – On Tuesday, July 8 2014, at 1807 St. Stephens Road, Prichard, Alabama, 36610 at 8:00 a.m., the City of Prichard will begin its battle to combat blight.

The abandoned building at this location will be demolished by Prichard Public Works along with 6 other structures scheduled for demolition.

Mayor Troy Ephriam has committed to tackling blight and nuisance properties in the City. He realizes it is an urban problem, not unique to Prichard but a general epidemic in impoverished communities.

This is one of the first steps in addressing this issue as Prichard begins to revitalize distressed neighborhoods through a comprehensive blight removal program aimed at eliminating eyesores and restoring community value to the City of Prichard.

There are sections of St. Stephens Road that will be blocked around this particular area for most of the day.
