ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — Anniston police, who have been searching for a missing woman, say they’ve located her vehicle and found a body inside.

WBRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/VDQjtb) that Margie Mize had not been seen since June 24.

Police say searchers on Monday found her vehicle on County Road 24, just inside the Cleburne County line.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said the vehicle appeared to have left the road, struck a large tree and overturned in a wooded ravine.

The body was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy and to confirm the identity.

George said in a statement that investigators are confident that the body is that of Mize.

Police say that Mize’s dog, Katie, was found alive at the scene but officers were unable to catch the animal.
