PPD: Alzheimer’s patient found safe

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – Pensacola Police have found an Alzheimer’s patient officers say wondered from her home.

Donna Barbarick, 79, was found on 3800 block of Flintwood Road was found around 10:07 p.m. Monday, July 7 wandering around in the parking complex of College Heights Apartments, 2811 Langley Ave. The apartment complex is about three-quarters of a mile from her home.

Investigators say an anonymous person had called Barbarick’s caregiver after seeing the missing woman and told her where they had seen her. The caregiver then notified police.

Officers say Barbarick was taken to the hospital for observation but appeared to be in good condition.

Barbarick was reported missing around 7:20 p.m.  She was last seen by the caregiver around 3:30 p.m. when the caregiver went to take a nap.  The caregiver discovered Barbarick missing when she awoke around 5 p.m.

Officers say  Barbarick left a note saying she was hungry and going to get some food.  But, she didn’t take her purse, and she also left behind credit cards and money.

Barbarick was missing for approximately six hours before she was found by officers.
