Many families laid out blankets and set up lawn chairs at Daphne’s Fourth of July celebration at the Trione Sports Complex. They snacked on free hotdogs and lemonade while the kids enjoyed the blowup water slides.
“I like getting wet and sliding down a slide,” said Damon Walker.
The kids came for the slides, but many of the parents and grandparents say they enjoy Daphne’s celebration because of the convenience of having less traffic and more space.
Peggy Willers came all the way from Gulf Breeze. Her family came early to set up a tent.
“We came last year and it was so pleasant that we came again…no hassle, no traffic,” Willers said.
Plenty of families also came from Daphne. Angela Reeves came with family and friends and brought her son William for his first fireworks experience
“This is his first Fourth of July. He’s seven months old. We live across the street and wanted to come over with friends and have the kids do the slides and see the fireworks.”
