GULF BREEZE, Fla. (WALA) – Gulf Breeze Police said rescue crews are searching for a man who fell off a fishing boat early Friday morning, July 4.
It happened in Pensacola Bay around 1:30 a.m.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said search and rescue crews are searching for 56-year-old Louie Baca. They said Baca was with three other adults when they launched from the 17th Ave Boat ramp in Pensacola around 1:15 a.m.
They said the boat went south for about 2.5 miles until they ended up east of Pensacola Bay Bridge on the Gulf Breeze side. That is when they noticed Baca was no longer on the boat.
U.S. Fish and wildlife, Coast Guard, Escambia County Search and Rescue and Pensacola Fire are all actively searching the area.
Friends on board the boat say Baca did not know how to swim and was not wearing a life jacket.
