4th of July 2014 on Dauphin Island

It’s going to be a big 4th of July weekend on Dauphin Island!

Mayor Jeff Collier joined us on Studio10 to talk about some recent national accolades for the island along with a preview of the 4th!

Here’s a look at some of the things that are going on:

First, it’s the first full weekend of the newly announced July Red Snapper season. The island’s bait shops, gas stations and boat launches will surely be popular venues.

Second, the island is in talks with a group to host a kids carnival throughout the day near the Public Beach.

Third, the Dauphin Island veterans association will raise a flag in honor of fallen soldiers and their families. This will take place on the island near the Water Town at 11:00 AM

For the finale of the show, Dauphin Island will hold fireworks at the Dauphin Island Public Beach near the old Fishing Pier at 9:00 P.M.

The island’s beaches will be open throughout the day, and the West End Beach will feature a new waterside for children and island visitors to enjoy!
