MFR on scene of two alarm fire at Pine Bend Apartments

Mobile, Ala.- (WALA) On Saturday, June 28, Mobile Fire Rescue responded to a two alarm fire at Pine Bend at The Hamptons Apartments around 2 p.m. The apartment complex is located at 3701 Carlyle Close off Montlimar Drive.pb fire 2

According to MFR officials, the fire was initially reported at 1:48 p.m.  Engine 23 arrived on scene first with heavy fire conditions coming from two second floor apartments. Officials said, Chief Bryan Lee requested a second alarm at 2:03 p.m.

Officials said, two second floor apartments were heavily damaged by the fire with eight others suffering major smoke and water damage.  An adjacent structure did receive damage to the siding.  According to officials, two fire-fighters were treated on the scene for heat exhaustion but not transported to the hospital.

Officials said, one off duty firefighter who arrived prior to the responding units received minor injuries after being bitten by a dog while attempting to evacuate occupants from the burning structure with the assistance of one resident and two Mobile Police Officers.

According to officials, one pet was overcome by smoke prior to firefighters arriving. Damage is estimated at approximately $170,000.
