MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Mobile Police said they have arrested two suspects in the west Mobile Target purse snatching case.

They arrested 24-year-old Daniel Powell and 26-year-old Shannon Laurio in relation to the case. They have both been charged with second degree robbery, possession of a controlled substance (prescription narcotics) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials said the victim, Cathy Downey, was in the store parking lot putting groceries in her vehicle when a man approached her and grabbed her purse from the basket. She told FOX10 New when she didn’t let go of the purse, she was knocked to the ground.

“He yanked me and the purse down so I fell face forward landing on my left knee. My left hand was still on the purse,” Downey said.

Officials said Powell and Lauiro allegedly took off in in a white Pontiac Grand Am. They released their names to the public on Wednesday, June 25.
