Distinguished Young Women “Has Beens” on Studio10

Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program for girls in high school. A representative from each of the fifty states comes to Mobile every summer in hopes of being named the Distinguished Young Woman of America based off her talent, fitness, interview, scholastics and self expression abilities.

Has Beens are a special part of the Distinguished Young Women Family. They participated in the previous year’s National Finals and return to Mobile this year to act as big sisters to the current class, perform at Community Night and in the “Has Been Show.” They also serve as general ambassadors of good will.

This year, there are fourteen Has Beens in Mobile who each just finished their freshman year at colleges around the country. Has Beens have been making  public appearances at the Ronald McDonald House, L’Arche Mobile and Atria Senior Living.
