Good news for those of you who like fireworks.
Plans for the annual Independence Day show in Mobile are moving forward.
The Mobile City Council approved a resolution Wednesday to spend $18,000 for the fireworks.
But, Council Member Bess Rich said she had hoped that private funding could pay for the event.
Rich said, “I’m just going to stay very consistent. I’ve done this with other administrations, and I will continue to keep pushing for the private sector to do things that are above and beyond what I would like to see our resources only be allocated towards.”
The council voted six to one to approve the contract, with Rich voting no.
