Idol hopefuls were at the UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans the morning of June 25th before the sun was up! They wanted to be there early because for some of them, it was their first time auditioning and they had no idea what, or who to expect…
Contestant Gloria Lorbeman said Harry Connick Jr. is what made her want to audition for American Idol. Unfortunately he wasn’t in New Orleans.
Others contestants, like Britney Chauntae from Dallas, Texas and Edward Wiggins from Mobile have auditioned before, so they had a better idea of how the audition process works. Edward says his mother and good friend convinced him to audition again this year.
“Every year you get better. You keep practicing and keep going and hopefully this year will be for the best,” he said.
It’s been ten years since Britney auditioned.
“I’ve been kind of skeptic about trying out so I’m glad I finally just decided to come out and do it,” she said.
Edward didn’t get a golden ticket to Hollywood this time.
“I think I did a pretty good job however I didn’t make it. It was still fun I had a great time I got to sing with the crowd, dance with the crowd and the judges were pretty awesome,” he said.
Edward has a great attitude and says he’s not giving up on his dream, so this probably won’t be the last time we’ll see him. Britney didn’t get a golden ticket ten years ago, but she did today!
She said, “I feel so great! I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t scream, I didn’t shout, I just said Thank God!”
