Creola, Ala. (WALA) According to zoning Commission records a waste management and recycling company has plans to open in Creola.
There is not a lot of public information yet about what Greer’s Enterprises proposes to do on the land so FOX10 News did some digging. Creola zoning commission records show Greer’s Enterprises wants to rent two acres of the land off Radcliff Drive to Evergreen Tank Solutions– a company that operates waste management equipment.
According to Creola Councilwoman Lee Ann Greene because the project is in the beginning stages, there is not a lot of information available and that has people concerned.
” This has all been out of proportion because they think hazardous waste is going to be laying on the ground maybe? or all over the place? that’s what I’m gathering from people they are just nervous,” said Greene.
Greene says Greer’s will be giving more information to residents at a town hall meeting. So far no date has been set for that meeting. We’ll let you know when that happens.
We asked Greer’s for more information on the project. The manager, Craig Greer sent this statement via email.
“At this time, no definitive plans have been firmly implemented to accomplish this goal. We are currently in the process of establishing the potential for the future growth of our company within this area. We will communicate this information to all parties as it develops.”
FOX10 News will continue to follow the latest developments on the project.
