MOBILE, Ala. – Mobile Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a domestic shooting Tuesday morning.
He’s 42 year old Julius “J.T.” Tolbert. The shooting happened in the 3100 block of Valeria Street around 9:30am.
The victim had already be taken to the hospital in a private vehicle when paramedics arrived on the scene.
A man who said he was the woman’s brother didn’t want to talk on camera, but he told Fox Ten News his sister was in surgery after being shot at her home. He said he had the woman’s children who witnessed what happened to their mother.
Other neighbors said they saw the woman on the front porch of the house on Valeria Street. She was arguing with a man they recognized as the father of her infant child. The woman ran into the house, and was followed by the man. She came out moments later and said she had been shot.
But, the gunfire didn’t stop. One neighbor said he saw the suspect shooting at another man who managed to dodge the gunfire outside the house.
According to neighbors the woman hasn’t lived in the house very long, but they said they have heard other domestic issues at the house in the past. But, nothing has escalated to violence until the shooting Tuesday.
One woman who lives near the scene said her street is usually pretty quiet.
“Haven’t nothing really been going on. I know it’s been like break-ins and things, but nothing that violent,” Latevia Baldwin said.
